HELLO FROM YOUR TOP COACH - CURLY MARTIN
Hello again,
Some coaches may be going into a summer sales dip when, like many other professionals,
you may experience a reduction in enquiries and sales. It can happen in summertime
(especially if you have not been spending 40% of your time working on your marketing
pipeline as I fully explain on our diploma course) and yet many new coaches experience
panic if their phone doesn't ring as often as before.
The good news is that, in early September, it will all pick up again. There isn't
really a lack of demand; it is just other priorities take precedence at this time
of year – like holidays, gardening and picnics. Good life work balance. Summer is
a great time to sort your own logistical and psychological objectives and to build
on your strengths in readiness for autumn. It is a time to mentally prepare for
any new challenges that may come along by filling gaps in your knowledge, which
will boost your confidence – and thus improve your future performance by eliminating
common fears and doubts as you top-up on training.
Summer is also a great time for gentle introspection; consider what is important,
and what is not, in your life, your career and your practice. You can discover answers
to any nagging little doubts, concerns or questions that may be bothering you. Achievement
Specialists' coaches can visit the Achievers Club for support, ideas, inspiration
and friendship.
All coaches can sign up for my Download To Destinytm courses which are on Summer
Sizzler Special offer at the moment. Click here
www.achievementspecialists.co.uk/Browse/Downloads for more information.
You will find oodles of new ideas for your coaching and your life. Choose from:-
- Health Harmony
- Money Matters
- Remarkable Relationships
-
Career Change
Each day a new idea, activity, inspirational exercise and much more, will arrive
in your mailbox allowing you to spend time this summer growing your skills and knowledge
for your new autumn clients.
If you thought last New Year was a time for new beginnings … it wasn't. It was just
a rehearsal for the significant and exciting new start that is waiting for you beyond
your summer break.
Love and life,
Curly

WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL
Received 1st June 2010
I first met Curly Martin when I was researching new career options, I had been a
very successful TV and film make up artist for twenty years until early 2009 when
I was diagnosed with an eye condition. I had lost 50% of my vision and could no
longer see enough to do the job I loved, I could no longer drive my car and financially
things had become very difficult. My life had changed so much I could not recognise
it anymore. I felt as if I had lost myself completely and when I looked in the mirror
the face starring back was not me!
I telephone five Life Coach training schools and explained what had happened and
I wanted information about being a Life Coach, not only to see if it was something
I would love, but also to see if I would be good as a Coach. Out of the five people
I spoke to only one person heard what I had to say and that was Curly Martin, the
others just went straight into the sales pitch for their company.
I choose the gold course and when I met Curly face to face I was not disappointed,
she is so full of energy, positivity and incredibly motivating.
After the course my mentor telephoned me and whilst we were chatting, my blood ran
cold, I could not believe how well Curly had matched me and my mentor, we were going
to be working on all of my deepest darkest fears (the ones that I had told no one).
I could not believe that Curly had read me and understood what I needed more than
anyone including me!
Since doing the course my life has turned around and everyday it is getting better
and better. Thank you so much Curly for noticing the real Me was still in there
somewhere, when I thought she had gone forever! You have truly saved my life, for
which I will be eternally grateful.
Thank you so much again. With love, Debbie Ross. The Life Artisan

MARKETING MOMENTS
If you habitually use a computer for writing, for work or even for shopping, it
is all too easy to think that everyone does the same. They don't. That is the reason
marketing strategies based exclusively on an electronic medium will miss at least
half of your potential targets.
If you are a keen reader, you may think that all your prospective clients read too.
Some might and most won't (especially if they are young). If they don't read magazines
they won't see your press adverts or bother to open your carefully crafted mailings.
Identify your prime pool of potential clients carefully. Then spread your marketing
initiatives attractively where they will have most appeal. Fish only in a pool where
you know that there are fishes.
FUN WORK
Make a point of noticing offices and workplaces featured in TV programmes. Clip
and save any work place pictures that you see in magazines, especially the ones
that show environments that appeal to you.
Use your phone or digital camera to grab pictures of where you normally work. Look
at the results carefully. Spot the difference between what you've got and what you
desire. Taking a photo puts a frame around an environment that allows you to spot
details that you ignore through familiarity. (How long have you been meaning to
sort out that spaghetti mess of cables under your desk?) You cannot lighten up the
world from a darkened room.
ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS
When people seem stressed in their own practice or business instead of living their
dream, it may be because they have failed to build in or plan for sufficient personal
time out. Regular periods of relaxation are as essential as any other tasks on your
'to do' plans.
Personal time out means just what it says. It means that your computers, phones
and all other electronic communication devices will be 'off' for the hours, days
or weeks when you are chilling out at home. They must be left behind when you are
on the move.
Guess what? The sky will not fall in. Your business will not collapse. Your family
and friends will not abandon you. You will feel better because you will be better.
You will be revitalised, energised and refreshed. You will achieve more with less
effort. Call it a siesta or a sabbatical if it makes you feel good – just avoid
feeling guilty. The name doesn't matter. It does matter that you take time out regularly.
CURLY'S COACH OF THE MONTH
Ric Hayman LCH Dip. Mentor
Ric called Achievement Specialists back in July 2003, just two weeks before the
July weekend workshop. The workshop luckily had one space on it and that space became
his. Today, Ric has a thriving practice in Ipswich and is one of the senior members
of our coaching community. Ric is a Mentor coach and is also the Course Director.
As a Life Coach, Hypnotherapist and Energy Therapy practitioner, Ric specialises
in rapid change, using his own powerful toolset that he developed himself over the
last seven years.
Thank you Ric.

COLIN'S COFFEE BREAK
Some timely travel tips to smooth your journeys. Our columnist went many years without
taking a holiday abroad and was delighted to find that his ideas on stress avoidance
still work.
My wife and I long ago realised that luggage is a severe impediment to enjoyable
travel and, since terrorism became a real threat, hand luggage is even more so.
That is why we don't carry any … although we can accept that a little may be justified
for long haul flights. We are expert at fitting all we need into a small suitcase
on wheels. Be warned; a couple with no hand luggage and just one case between them
often raises eyebrows and disbelief, if not actual suspicion of nefarious tendencies.
Despite this we generally travel faster and easier through terminals.
Who on earth had the bright idea of calling an airport building a 'terminal'? Was
it the same person who wrote the script for pilots to announce that 'we are making
our final approach …' as neither expression is likely to instil confidence in nervous
passengers?
Security checks are now an inevitable feature of air travel so we wear shoes that
can be slipped on and off without bending to deal with laces, zips or buckles. It
is why we never pack aerosol containers or any sharp objects. It is the reason the
cheapest plastic wristwatch from a market stall beats a metal timepiece for the
journey. It is the reason we always leave home with very few coins and spend them
all on newspapers or coffee breaks at the airport before they can trigger metal
detectors or fall out when we have to pass a jacket on a tray through a scanner.
It is also the reason we are even seen performing the strange security two-step
dance. This is instigated when the people in uniforms invite us to remove our belts.
If your figure requires a belt to keep your trousers where your waist used to be
and you have to remove it for security purposes, you will discover massive feelings
of insecurity. The key is to find trousers, skirts and kilts that fit well and stay
up without a belt. There is a potential fortune to be made for someone who can design
a fashionable range of non-ferrous belt buckles that are scanner safe.
Avoid standing directly in line behind someone who finds that this whole operation
is an unexpected novelty and a bit of a surprise. They can delay the queue as they
struggle to undress at the last minute, try to make sense of the instructions and
then knock out a few fellow passengers by waving their arms into the sleeves of
their inappropriate garments. Avoid waiting behind passengers with lots of pre-school
children for the same reasons.
To travel bright, travel light and, if in doubt – leave it out as you probably won't
need it anyway. Have a great holiday if you haven't set off yet. Otherwise plan
your next one. If neither option applies, then at least grab a travel book or two
and enjoy the adventures of others while you relax at home.
